Theatre
In 2012, the Cultural Association of Alonissos was reformed to create a Theatre Workshop already working on its first play. Local people of all ages participate in our theatre group. It is our belief that age difference by no means impedes creativity or cultural and artistic expression. The local Cultural Association is hoping to present in 2013 a very demanding play by Dimitris Kechaidis, entitled "Panigiri" (The Festival).
Greek Island Thespians (GITs) is an amateur theatre group formed in early 2010. It aspires to present three performances annually; a traditional British dumb show at the indoor amphitheatre of the Municipality of Alonissos the week following Greek Easter, a police thriller performed in a local tavern in mid-November/December and a poetry night or short theatrical plays presented at the premises of "Mavriki" Museum by springtime. We are happy to see that the members of our local theatre group, as well as theatre-goers, keep growing in numbers! In addition to theatrical performances, plays and poetry nights, the local theatre group has also scheduled a wide variety of other cultural events.
